Orchard Creek’s natural surroundings are a big part of its appeal. From the adjacent TART trail to the clear waters of Cedar Creek, we enjoy a truly special setting. This spring, a generous gift from the family of one of our long-time residents has made it possible for everyone at Orchard Creek to enjoy the great outdoors.
The Bob Ellis Memorial Gardens & Park provides families with a place to visit with their mom, dad, grandma or grandpa who live in Assisted Living apartments, or for those who are staying with us in our Skilled Nursing unit while receiving rehab.
Surrounded by trees, flowers and a winding, flowing creek, this beautiful new addition also provides a quiet place for residents gather and visit, or to simply enjoy some bright sunshine. Though all of our residents live in the comfort of private rooms, there’s nothing like taking a moment to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Visitors to the Garden & Park will find squirrels, birds and even a duck or two in Cedar Creek. It’s been said that soothing environments like this one even lower one's blood pressure too.
Mr. Ellis was a resident here who reminded the staff of how precious life is and how much they influence the lives of someone who is in need of their services on a daily basis. While he was certainly a man who achieved success in life, our staff knew Mr. Ellis affectionately as "Bob," a gentleman that touched their lives in a personal manner with his smile and twinkle in his eye. He knew many of their personal journeys and become a friend, offering a word of wisdom when they felt they needed it the most. The Garden & Park features a "shining star” shaped tree in memory of Mr. Ellis, because he was and is our shining star.
Bob’s family has also left an impression on our community with their caring presence throughout this difficult period in their life, creating a bond with our nursing staff as strong as any family before or since.
In the last few months of his life, Bob Ellis continued leaving a powerful impact on those he came in contact with. Future residents and staff may not know who Bob Ellis was, however, they will continue to receive the fruits of his life as he leaves his imprint on a place for them to reflect, reminisce, and share life's experiences in a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.
The management and staff at Orchard Creek Healthcare would like to offer our sincere thanks to Bob Ellis and his family for this lasting gift. Bob is and always will be our "shining star."
